Issues on linux with Airplay server

Discussion in 'Questions and Support' started by SkepticallyOptimistic, May 23, 2021.

  1. Hello,
I have many issues with acrosscenter and Portmaster (which is basically a linux firewall). I have tried many different ways to allow the Airplay server, but nothing works.
So, I created a network with wifi solely for my phone. Still, even allowing all traffic I can not connect. I was wondering if ip6 is needed?

If not I may have to return or request a macos key instead.

    Hi,

Have you tried Airplay without Portmaster (I don't know what Portmaster is.)?

You can use IPv4 only without needing IPv6.

What's the first 4 digits of your product key?

Portmaster essentially overviews all ports used for in/out https://safing.io/portmaster/
I have tried without portmaster. Still does not work.
I did a fresh install to try and, it works, without any firewall up at all (no ufw at all) - which is great if I wasnt trying to do this on my server lol.

I looked into the mdns and found:
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/.local#Linux and https://linuxconfig.net/manuals/howto/unix-file-etc-hosts-and-etc-nsswitch-conf.html#C1
Unfortunately, the thing i know least about, is networking. But I figured someone would know the answer from this but I do not. I know AcrossCenter works on my MacOS - at least the Airserver did. So maybe switching is better (which is unfortunate).

And for some reason the forward and back button on my mouse is disabled when AcrossCenter Bluetooth is connected/activated?? No idea why. When AcrossCenter is activated, with bluetooth turned off, back button on mouse works fine. When AcrossCenter is connected to my phone (even when not in use on the phone) it disables my forward/back button.

We can issue a product key for across for macOS. Instead, your existing product key will be deleted. If you want the option, please contact us and request it.

It could be a bug. We will fix it in the next version release.

    Thanks.

  5. Is there anyway I can run it in a VM? I do not like it taking up a core but I could actually use it better then in the programs current state (I wouldnt have to even click to switch when I hover over the VM)?

  6. Ok well before I do the mac I will try to do offline and VM.
